Titusville Fire Department Raises Awareness and Funds in Support of Parrish Healthcare’s Oncology Program

TITUSVILLE, FLA. (Feb. 27, 2024) —Titusville Fire Department (TFD) presented Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) with $2,000 in support of Parrish Healthcare’s oncology program. Since the inception of their annual Pink Out Campaign, TFD has raised more than $19,000 showing their continued commitment to help advance Parrish Healthcare’s vision of Healing Families – Healing Communities®.

Titusville Fire Department demonstrated their dedication by going pink for the cause during the month of October for their 2023 Pink Out campaign. As part of nationwide and local efforts to raise breast cancer awareness, department members continued their tradition of selling and wearing pink-themed T-shirts in place of their uniform shirts to observe breast cancer awareness month.

For the ninth year, Titusville Fire has generously given back to JPMF and supported Parrish Healthcare’s oncology program. In addition to releasing a new design for the limited-edition TFD Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts, sweatshirts and stainless-steel tumblers provided by Printboy, silicon pint tumblers (Silipint) were included in this year’s campaign fundraising selections.

“October is an exciting time of year for Titusville Fire. The department looks forward to raising awareness of breast cancer while joining forces with the community to give back locally to Jess Parrish Medical Foundation through the annual T-shirt campaign,” stated Gregory Sutton, battalion chief of administration, public information officer. “Knowing that the services provided by Parrish Healthcare’s oncology program are helping those in need really hits home for us. We will continue to support the Foundation and all they do to help those navigating this terrible disease.

Screenings remain a top priority for Parrish Healthcare. “The oncology program at Parrish, the area’s only program that is nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer, continues to provide free life-saving mammograms to those most in need; those that are out of work, under-insured or without insurance, and those struggling with high deductibles,” said Shannon Luker, Parrish Healthcare breast health navigator and oncology program coordinator. “We are grateful to TFD and all those in the community that supported this year’s campaign. It is gratifying to be part of a community that comes together to help provide the vital resources for cancer screenings that enable us to identify cancer in earlier stages, resulting in better patient outcomes.”

“The vital support provided by Titusville Fire will provide the availability of additional resources and opportunities to those we serve in North Brevard that may not otherwise have access to these critical services and care,” said Randall Coleman, JPMF board chair. “We are grateful to our community partner, Titusville Fire Department, for their ongoing commitment to Parrish Healthcare and helping to advance our vision of Healing Families—Healing Communities®.
